4 Month (not so) Well Baby

We had Kate's 4 month well baby yesterday with our old Pediatrician (that I cannot stand).  I am so ready to be fully integrated into our new Pediatrician's office but, unfortunately, with our travel schedule, her out of the office schedule, and Christmas, her well baby appointments were booked until mid-January.

Kate has been dealing with some relatively major health issues lately (I haven't mentioned them as we don't really have concrete answers and are still waiting and praying) and her hematologist didn't want to delay any of her vaccinations - not even by a few weeks.  So, we kept our appointment with the old Ped.

We've all been dealing with a bit of a stomach bug as well and I wasn't thrilled with the idea of Kate getting her shots while possibly sick with a viral infection but again, the hematologist said it was best given her issues and the fact that she has not had a fever.

Waiting for her shots, totally oblivious to what was about to happen!

Weight: 11lbs 9.5oz
Length: 24 inches
Head Circumferences: 16 inches

Her shots were horrible.  She screamed bloody murder for a solid 20 minutes before she finally fell asleep.  She currently has big bruises on her legs - poor baby.

She is on Tylenol every 4-6 hours until tomorrow as we cannot risk her spiking a fever due to her other issues.  While we don't know what Kate's official diagnosis is, we know that her little body is not capable of fighting off any type of bacterial infection.  A fever would put her at a much higher risk of contracting something that could land her in the hospital so, we are taking all precautions to avoid that scenario.

Our house has been pretty pathetic - Kate with her diarrhea (and horrible diaper rash) and pitifulness from her shots, Alex with the stomach flu, and me with the stomach bug as well.

I'm praying Kate and I are much better come Monday when we fly to Florida.  I cannot imagine being on a plane with an infant that is pooping every 30 - 45min.

So sorry that Kate isn't feeling well. It is so hard when they are sick and you can't really do much of anything to make them feel better, or explain to them why. Heartbreaking. I will be praying for you that your medical team comes up with some answers and solutions for her.

I'm so so sorry about everyone being sick! The good news is Kate seems to be gaining weight nicely and she is as cute as ever! A lot can happen within the 3 days leading up to heading out to FL, so you all may be as healthy as can be by then! Thinking of all of you!

Xoxo

ugh, it just breaks my heart that that sweet little face is sick. I hope you guys feel better soon. And I hope that you get some concrete answers about what's going on with Kate soon. I can't even imagine how scary and frustrating not knowing must be. Lots of HUGS!
